Who We Are
The GVFB provides assistance to approximately 15,000 people monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and the North Shore. We also provide food support to 150 agencies such as housing agencies, women and children’s shelters, transition homes and after school programs, which in turn provide hot meals and snacks to thousands of people each week, including people who are unhoused.
Our mission is providing healthy food to those in need. Our vision is to create healthy communities through fair and effective food systems. Currently, the GVFB distributes 8.9 M lbs of food each year.

This is a full-time, permanent position, with the opportunity to learn and grow. The successful candidate can expect a Living Wage based salary of $50,068 annually.

Position Overview
This position will suit a highly motivated, detail-oriented and friendly individual to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s (GVFB) day-to-day accounts payable and data entry operations. Reporting to the Controller, this role will ensure that accounts payable transactions are entered on a timely basis and reporting requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time.
You will combine your excellent analytical skills with your knowledge of accounting principles to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks and processes. You are passionate about problem-solving, are process and detail-oriented with a drive to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process invoices, expense reports, and other accounts payable transactions.
- Process and reconcile receipt of accounts receivable cheques, EFT’s and other deposits or donations.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and ensure proper coding for expenses.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Process payments to vendors, ensuring accurate and timely payment, including preparing EFT and cheques, and associated follow-up.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all transactions in Financial Edge.
- Assist with month-end closing activities and provide support for audit activities.
- Provide assistance with data entry and ensure data accuracy in Raiser’s Edge.
- Accurately enter daily bank transaction data in Financial Edge.
- Process recurring journal entries for month-end close.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of an accounting diploma or degree or a combination of relevant experience;
- 1+ years of experience in accounts payable and data entry;
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and practices;
- Experience using Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge software is preferred but not required;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel;
