Position Overview
The Food and Garden Coordinator oversees daily food and garden activities including planting & harvesting garden produce, overseeing product distribution, volunteer coordination, food preservation, research, planning and leading new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Agency Garden Project annual planning including budgeting with Agencies Manager support
- Complete daily garden maintenance such as watering, weeding, planting, etc as needed.
- Oversee weekly Garden Project product distribution to Agencies.
- Coordinate volunteer activities for Garden Project and food preservation initiatives.
- Coordinate tracking of Agency access to Garden product impact using surveys, emails and other methods.
- Provide regular updates to Agencies team and GVFB using Slack, email, and other communication methods.
- Lead food preservation activities such as dehydration, canning & freezing.
- Lead research for food preservation distribution activities and methods including licensed cost recovery models.
- Support Agencies with garden projects and food preservation activities.
- Support with town hall food prep and oversee kitchen inventory rotation and organization.
- Support the Manager of Community Agencies with research, program changes and projects.
- Communicate and meet with stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in the following areas: agriculture, gardening, cooking, food preservation or combination of relevant work experience.
- Food Safe certification.
- Experiential knowledge in food sales/distribution.
- Experience working with and leading volunteers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with non-profit organizations is ideal.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions.
- The ability to walk and stand intermittently.
- Bending and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs intermittently.
- Some local travel to visit stakeholders and agency partners.
