About Us

The GVFB provides assistance to approximately 13,000 people monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and the North Shore. We also provide food support to more than 118 community agencies such as housing agencies, women and children’s shelters, transition homes and after school programs, which in turn provide hot meals and snacks to thousands of people each week, including people who are homeless.

Our mission is providing healthy food to those in need. Our vision is to create healthy communities through fair and effective food systems. Currently, the GVFB receives, purchases, and distributes 8 M lbs of food each year.

Position Overview

This close kit team is looking to add an HR colleague to support the continual growth and ongoing development of the GVFB. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to widen their Human Resources exposure in a variety of related areas and practices.

As a member of the HR team, you will work on challenging recruitment assignments, identifying great candidates for opportunities across the organization and then facilitate the delivery of onboarding and employment experiences that our staff talk about for months. Building relationships and connection with prospective candidates and in community organizations is work you love to do. You will thrive in a role which involves marketing the GVFB to active and passive candidates and building partner relationships to enhance new candidate streams.

Our candidate will work also in the areas of benefits administration & case management, health & safety, DEI and in time, more responsibilities and divers work will be assigned. We foster a supportive, collaborative and high-performing culture that invests in learning, development and progression of its employees so the opportunity to learn & grow will be plentiful.

You are super organized and have high attention to detail, are a very effective communicator and someone who builds relationships easily. You are professional, diplomatic and can handle competing deadlines with ease. Adaptability and being able to quickly pivot are critical competencies for this role.
