Greater Vancouver Food Bank
Providing healthy food to those in need.
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983, but the need still exists today.
We receive no recurring government funding and exist solely through the generosity of the public, our industry partners, and applicable grants. Each month we provide healthy food to over 16,000 individuals and families in need and 130+ Community Agency Partners across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore. Our mission is to provide healthy food to those in need.

In 2023, we distributed 5.8M lbs of food to registered clients. Total estimated visits = 252,173.

Over 1,300 registered volunteers support our various departments: Agencies, Warehouse, Distribution, Events, Finance, and Development. With 50,000 volunteer hours contributed, that's equivalent to 25 full-time staff!

In 2023, we distributed 3.3M lbs. of food to our community agency partners. Total estimated visits = 143,478.

No Food Drives
After much consideration, we are no longer accepting food collected from food drives. This decision applies to fresh food and non-perishables of all kinds. However, we are still accepting palletized food from food industry partners, such as retailers, wholesalers and farmers. For more information, visit the link below.
