Provincial Agencies

The GVFB works with other non-profit food banks and distribution organizations across BC to share surplus food and strengthen food access in communities throughout the province.

How it works

Provincial agencies are supported regularly through our Provincial Pallet Program using a pick-up model. At times, the GVFB receives an abundance of large donations from BC farmers or companies that we then share with other organizations similar to ours once our client needs are covered. We work with several different non-profit organizations across the province and are actively building relationships with new communities to help ensure surplus food reaches people while it is still fresh.

We are proud to be actively strengthening our provincial network and contributing to a more food secure province. In our 2026 fiscal year, we worked with 20 different Provincial Agencies and distributed more than 820,000 pounds of food!

Provincial Programs

The GVFB currently offers one program for non-profit food banks or food distribution centres located outside of our local service area (Vancouver, the North Shore, Burnaby and New West):

Agencies receive a list of available pallets by email, which may include fresh, frozen, or shelf-stable food. Participating agencies are typically responsible for arranging transportation to pick up the food from our warehouse.

Available food varies depending on donations, seasonality, and overall supply, so offerings are not guaranteed on a consistent basis.
