Role Overview:

As Food Distributionβ€―volunteers, your group willβ€―help provide food to those in need.β€―Working on the frontline, you will help create a welcoming experience for clients while supporting the smooth operation of food distribution. This isβ€―a fast-paced, team-oriented role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community.β€―

Responsibilities:
  • Create a Β positive and welcomingβ€―experience for clientsβ€―and provide any organizationalβ€―updates;β€―β€―
  • Support with setting up and taking down the distributionβ€―site;β€―Β 
  • Distributeβ€―menu items and follow allotmentβ€―requirements;β€―Β 
  • Sweepβ€―andβ€―clean the distribution site and ensureβ€―all sharp objects (ie. Box cutters) are putβ€―away;β€―Β 
  • Restock stations, recycleβ€―packaging, and compostβ€―spoiledβ€―food;β€―Β 
  • Sort and quality check freshβ€―donations;β€―β€―Β 
  • Monitor the parking lot and provideβ€―directions to clients andβ€―vehicles;β€―Β 
  • Understand and follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe workingβ€―environment;β€―Β 
  • Quality check and sort produce beforeβ€―distribution;β€―Β 
  • Follow all organizational guidelines and protocols related to translation services and clientβ€―interactions;β€―β€―Β 
  • Completeβ€―other distribution-related tasks asβ€―requested by staff.β€―β€―Β

  • Proficient in speaking English and able toβ€―comprehendβ€―instructions inβ€―English;β€―
  • Ability to interact with the public in a respectfulβ€―manner;β€―Β 
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively within a teamβ€―environment;β€―Β 
  • Flexibility to support where needed in a dynamicβ€―environment;β€―Β 
  • Efficientlyβ€―completeβ€―tasks to keep operations runningβ€―smoothly;β€―Β 
  • Ability to handle busy periods calmly andβ€―effectively;β€―Β 
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.β€―β€―β€―β€―Β

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for four hours;
  • Capability to perform repetitive tasks;
  • Ability to bend, lift, and twist safely up to 40 lbs. Lifting may be required depending on the task;

  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
  • Thursday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm
