It was the now-famous catchphrase from B.C.’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry that calmed a city in lockdown:βThis is our time to be kind, to be calm, and to be safe.β
Now the wise words emblazon a newΒ heather-grey custom T-shirt at Gastown’s parliament interiors, with 100 percent of the proceedsΒ going to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Bearing βBe Kind. Be Calm. Be Safe.β in capital letters, theΒ fitted “Bonnie tee” comes men’s and women’sΒ sizing and sells for $28.
The T-shirts are available for purchase in-store, curbside pick up or by phone 604-689-0800.
The catchphrase helped B.C.Β flatten the COVID-19 curve, and continue to be used to remind the public about social-distancing as the province opens up.
Henry’s near-celebrity status during the pandemic has spurred a small wave of fashion-related fundraisers, including aΒ “Bonnie bee” pendantΒ and funky John Fluevog-designedΒ shoes.
A vision of calm herself, Henry has even spawnedΒ a social-mediaΒ “Bonnie Henry Fan Club”,Β where followersΒ have called her “erudite, truthful, candid”, and “an incredible leader and absolute badass”.
