Volunteer with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank

Whether at one of our 13 distribution locations, at Community Events, or our head office and warehouse, volunteers are the heart and soul of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and we couldn’t serve our clients without them.

Together, volunteers donated about 77,000 hours of time last year – the equivalent of about 36 full-time staff.  We could not provide support to 28,000+ people each week without our amazing volunteers.

Group Food Sort

One of the most popular ways for groups of 10-25 people to volunteer is by doing a Group Food Sort. Group Food Sorts help ensure that the food that comes into the Food Bank is sorted appropriately prior to us sharing it with our clients. Food Sorts provide groups with the opportunity for team building, along with an orientation of what we do.

We will be moving over to a new platform for our Group Volunteers called Better Impact. Please be patient with us in this time of transition. If you would like to book a group food sort session you will need to create an account on Better Impact. Please note if you have previously confirmed your bookings in Bookly (our previous booking application) this information will be moved over to Better Impact.
