Whether at one of our 13 distribution locations, at Community Events, or our head office and warehouse, volunteers are the heart and soul of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and we couldn’t serve our clients without them.
Together, volunteers donated about 68,500 hours of time last year – the equivalent of about 36 full-time staff. We could not provide support to 28,000+ people each week without our amazing volunteers.

Group Food Sort
One of the most popular ways for groups of 10-25 people to volunteer is by doing a group food sort. Group food sorts help ensure that the food that comes into the Food Bank is sorted appropriately and shared with our clients. Food Sorts provide groups with the opportunity for team building, along with an orientation of what we do.
