SMS Text Messaging Terms & Conditions

Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society Β· Last updated: June 11, 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern the SMS (text message) program operated by the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (“Greater Vancouver Food Bank,” “GVFB,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By providing us your mobile number and agreeing to be contacted by text, you accept these terms.

Program description

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank uses text messaging for one-to-one, conversational communication between our staff and our existing contacts β€” food bank clients and partner community agencies. Messages are sent by GVFB staff from their assigned phone numbers.

Types of messages you can expect

  • Confirming or rescheduling your food appointment.
  • Confirming a scheduled food pickup for partner agencies.
  • Sending a link to information on our website that you have requested.
  • General service-related replies to messages you send us.

We do not send marketing, promotional, fundraising, bulk, or automated text messages.

Consent

You consent to receive text messages from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank when you provide your mobile number to us during client registration or agency onboarding and are informed that a staff member may contact you by text. Your consent is not a condition of receiving food or services from us.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Because messages are conversational and sent only as needed, the number of messages you receive will depend on your interactions with our staff.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Any charges are billed by and payable to your mobile carrier. Please contact your carrier for details on your messaging plan.

How to opt out

You can stop receiving text messages from one of our numbers at any time by replying STOP (or QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE) to that number. After you opt out, you will receive a confirmation and no further messages from that number. You can reply START to resume.

How to get help

Reply HELP to any of our numbers for assistance, or contact us directly:

Carriers

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text message delivery is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed.

Privacy

Your information is handled in accordance with our SMS Text Messaging Privacy Policy. We do not share mobile opt-in information or phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
