We are excited to see the release of the Federal Government’s “A Food Policy for Canada” on June 17, 2019. The goal of the Policy is to move us towards a Canada where everyone has access to a healthy amount of “safe, nutritious and culturally diverse food”. With particular interest we will follow the $50M Local Food Infrastructure Campaign and how it can provide support to organizations like the GVFB in the food insecurity sector, as well as the National School Food Program, a cause close to our hearts, because “too many children at school are trying to learn on empty stomachs.” Check out Canada’s food policy to find out more.
