We are ecstatic to be awarded as the Not-for-Profit Organization of the Year at the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade!

The Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year was designed for a Not-For-Profit organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the Burnaby community and its citizens, and in doing so has made Burnaby a better place to live, work and play.

Burnaby Community's Warm Welcome

We moved our head office and warehouse to Burnaby in 2019, and have since been treated with utmost respect and generosity by the community. It is an honour to be recognized for our work of providing healthy food to those in need. We are grateful to the Burnaby community for welcoming us with open arms and supporting our mission every step of the way.

How We Support Burnaby Clients

A balanced menu is designed a month in advance for our clients. We follow Canada’s Food Guide; each weekly menu includes grains, protein, fruits and vegetables, and other nutritious food items, depending on inventory. Most of our clients can afford cheap but high-calorie food; however, they can’t afford fresh and healthy items like eggs, dairy, and produce. Therefore, we strive to provide a consistent supply of nutritious food to our clients across Burnaby, Vancouver, New Westminster and the North Shore – this is how we take care of our neighbours.

Our Burnaby distribution site is a 10-minute walk from Production Skytrain Station. We are open three days a week in Burnaby, with evening hours once a week to cater to working families or individuals. Since January 2022, we served 22,900 unique individuals in Burnaby; 35% were children, 11% were seniors.

Our Reach in Burnaby

In addition to supporting Burnaby citizens through direct food distribution, we also provide food support to Community Agency Partners (CAPs). 16 of 118 of our CAPs are located in Burnaby, including the Burnaby Neighbourhood House, Pacific Immigrant Resources Society, Southside Community Church and more. Last year, we distributed 3.3 million lbs of food to our CAPs; they in turn provide groceries, meals and snacks to thousands of people, including those struggling with homelessness.

Burnaby Neighbourhood House receives food from us every week to run its grocery and food programs. They have received 126,000 lbs of food from us since January 2022.

Thank You!

Thank you, Mayor Mike Hurley, the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade for your ongoing support and congratulations to the other not-for-profit finalists!
