BMO Support Helps Greater Vancouver Food Bank Strengthen Food Security Across the Region
Vancouver, BC, July 14, 2026: To help ensure children, families, and individuals across Greater Vancouver have access to fresh, healthy food, BMO has committed $500,000 over five years to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB)
This support significantly advanced the GVFBβs Fresh Futures Capital Campaign and support Preschooler and Grade Schooler Nutrition Packs, helping the organization invest in the infrastructure and programs needed to strengthen
food security across the region.
The GVFB recognized BMOβs support with a plaque unveiling at its Lougheed facility, located at 3454 Lougheed Hwy in Vancouver. The event highlighted the role community partnerships play in strengthening food security and helping build a British Columbia where everyone has access to fresh, healthy food.
“No one should worry about where their next healthy meal will come from. At BMO, we believe access to nutritious food is fundamental to strong, healthy communities, and we are proud to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and the vital role it plays in helping individuals and families across the region,” said James Kitamura, Regional President Personal Banking, British Columbia and Yukon.
Β
βPartnerships like this help secure the future of food security across Greater Vancouver,β says Tor Smith, Director of Philanthropy, Greater Vancouver Food Bank. βBMOβs commitment to helping ensure fresh and nutritious food is available for communities for years to come is incredibly meaningful, and we are proud to recognize the role they are playing in helping us provide healthy food to those in need.β
Through the Vancouver/Lougheed facility, the GVFB currently serves 16,000 clients weekly. The Lougheed facility supports 101 agency partners that pick-up food through the GVFB market, helping move fresh, healthy food into
communities across the region.
During the last fiscal year, the GVFB registered approximately 6,400 new clients across all locations and recorded some 800,000 client visits. The GVFB also provided approximately 65,000 Nutrition Packs through its specialized nutrition programs, including Preschooler and Grade Schooler Nutrition Packs developed in consultation with dietitians to support children during important stages of growth and development.
The plaque, located at the GVFBβs Lougheed facility, will serve as a lasting recognition of BMOβs impact and the importance of partnerships in creating a British Columbia where everyone has access to healthy food through efficient distribution, innovation, and partnerships.
