Greater Vancouver Food Bank Reassures Public: There Will Be No Changes to Our Food Distribution Services
April 02, 2026, Burnaby, BC:Β In light ofΒ recent news, theΒ Greater Vancouver Food BankΒ (GVFB) wants to reassure the public that our services remain unchanged and accessible, even as demand spikes during this period of high inflation. With strong partnerships and consistent access to fresh, local produce, we are well prepared to provide healthy food to those in need.Β

After listening to our clients concerns with news from other food support organizations, we wanted to calm those worries by letting everyone know that we will not be making changes to our distribution schedules and we will continue providing food to the people of BC through direct distribution and our local and provincial Agency Partners.”Β David Long,Β CEO ofΒ Greater Vancouver Food Bank.Β
During its over 40 yearsΒ ofΒ operation, the GVFB has a provenΒ track recordΒ of adapting to support our clients. When the pandemic hit and unemployment and inflation spiked, we were there to support the most vulnerable β including kids, seniors, and single parents β with fresh, healthy produce every week. NowΒ with aΒ permanent home in Vancouver, weΒ are able toΒ provide consistent, stable support to clients across Vancouver, Burnaby, NewΒ WestminsterΒ and the North Shore.Β Β
IfΒ youβreΒ having trouble putting food on the table, we are here to help. GVFB distributes a minimum of 75% fresh, healthy food toΒ local residentsΒ weekly, along with nutritional program packs for newborns,Β childrenΒ and seniors. Access toΒ locations and scheduleΒ for direct distributionΒ isΒ available on our website. We also provide food support to over 160 agency partners and food programming across theΒ LowerΒ Mainland and BC.Β
