We couldn’t imagine where we would be without the incredible support of Beedie over the years.
From being a supportive landlord to a generous donor, they have helped us tremendously in completely reshaping and improving our work at the GVFB.
Back in 2019, we were on the hunt for a bigger and brighter warehouse to call home. We were blown away when we found Beedie’s Winston Street warehouse and immediately knew it ticked off all our boxes. Since moving in, Beedie has been incredibly supportive and attentive to our needs.
At the start of the pandemic, we began stocking up on extra food to prepare for the influx of clients, price increases, and product shortages. To help us prepare, Beedie graciously stepped in and offered us an additional warehouse space. This allowed us to maximize our resources and increase the capacity to store pallets of nutritious food.
Shortly after, they designed and provided our Burnaby Warehouse with a brand new volunteer lounge! The Beedie Lounge acts as the perfect space for our volunteers to settle in as they prepare for their shifts and recharge during their breaks.
Their acts of kindness don’t stop there! Acknowledging the ever-growing need to address food insecurity in our community, through the Beedie Foundation, Ryan and Cindy launched two consecutive $250,000 Holiday Donation Match campaigns with results and donations far exceeding our fundraising goals.
“The Beedie Foundation was created as a way to treat our communities like our extended family. Like a family, we look out for and support one another, through both hardships and successes. Our work with the GVFB allows us to double down on that support, supplying nutritious food, supplements, and financial support to Vancouverites during their time of need.” – Ryan Beedie, President of Beedie.
This past holiday season, their holiday donation match was designated towards our Seniors’ Pack Program, a nutritional program specifically curated for our clients age 65+. The Seniors’ Pack Program, along with our 3 other programs for children, contains premium items that are costly to purchase. For instance, our packs have items rich in vitamins and minerals such as nutrition shakes, lean proteins, whole-grain bread, cheese, leafy greens and more.
We support approximately 2,000 seniors each month, and we expect the number could rise given the financial challenges that many seniors face with accessing healthy food.
“No one in our communities should have to go hungry – it’s something I’m committed to solving, as part of our purpose at the Beedie Foundation. Partnering with the truly compassionate team at the GVFB expands both of our efforts, helping us give back in such a direct and meaningful way while increasing our positive impact on seniors and families in need.” – Cindy Beedie, Executive Director of Beedie.
We express our deepest gratitude towards the entire Beedie team for continuously giving us and our clients the gift of hope. We are proud to stand alongside your generous team in the face of food insecurity in our communities.
