Productive Fleet Consulting assists small automotive vehicle fleets in Metro Vancouver. They have worked with us over the last few years to manage our fleet of vehicles.
During their time working closely with us, they have seen first-hand the power of cash donations versus food drives. The Greater Vancouver Food Bank has twice the purchasing power, sometimes even four times the power when we look at apples and onions.
Production Fleet Consulting donated $4,000 to the GVFB on the week of Christmas. Douglas Dunn, the founder of Productive Fleet Consulting told us a sweet story behind his company’s timely donation.
“I reached out to David and the team at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank back in November to discuss how we can help during the holiday season.
I learned my spirit of giving from my aunt, Judith Grey. Judy worked for 32 years at Seaspan Marine as the “voice” of Seaspan. My aunt supported local fundraisers for her co-workers, their children, and our family and she always helped out those who are less fortunate. She was a loving, caring, unique and amazing person and I have only just learned her secret to a happy life.
I made a promise to my aunt before she passed, that I will support the community with care like she did, and it brings me great joy to make this donation to the GVFB in her honour. In the days leading up to my donation to the Food Bank, I began to truly understand why giving has so much meaning:
To give of one’s self to help others is its own reward and one you can only experience by doing.
I now understand what it means to give, and the joy and compassion that my aunt lived daily through her actions. I encourage everyone to reach out to their local charities. Volunteer, donate, share, and give selflessly.”
Douglas’s words ring true to many. Giving is a gift. The Food Bank continues to meet many generous, kind, and compassionate people every single day, and everyone has a special story behind their gift.
